Walter E. Morby Walter Eugene Morby, 41, of 578 29th, died Friday afternoon at Hill Air Force Base Hospital after a heart attack. Mr. Morby was born July 1, 1921, in Evanston, a son of Charles E. and Freda Cook Morby. On-Oct. 2, 1948, he was married to Marian McNally in Ogden. He came to Ogden in 1927 and had been employed as a postal clerk at the Post Office. He was a member and past treasurer of Postal Clerks Union and member of the Presbyteriai Church. He was a graduate of Ogden High School and attended Weber College for two years where he was a member of Sigma Delta Pi. Surviving are his widow, one son, John R. Morby, and two daughters, Jil Ann and Patricia Morby, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Morby Sr., all of Ogden; two brothers, Charles A. Morby Jr. and A. E. Morby, Ogden; two sisters, Mrs. Lester Melba Guild, Piedmont, Wyo., aid Mrs. Dee (Geraldine) Richards, Ogden. Marian Frances McNally Morby Schoss passed away peacefully on December 9, 2013. She is now free to be herself again. Marian was born on September 7, 1922 in Deeth, Nevada to Patrick Francis and Hazel McDermott McNally. She lived in a box car house when very young as her family traveled so her father could inspect the safety of the tracks of the Southern Pacific Railroad.When it was time to start school, the family settled in Elko, Nevada. She attended grade school there.The family transferred to Ogden with the railroad and she attended Sacred Heart Academy, St. Joseph’s School and graduated from Ogden High School. Marian’s first job was at American Can Co. and then she worked at Lancaster Kasting. She married Walter Morby on October 2, 1948 and had three children. He died June 7, 1963. Following his death she went to work at the Ogden School Board in Pupil Personnel, bought a house for her children to grow up in and sent them to parochial schools. After several years she found a fulltime position running the switchboard at Job Service, a position she loved, and eventually retired from Job Service. She loved working because of the people with whom she worked and made lifelong friends at each of her jobs. She married Ferrin G. Schoss on September 14, 1974 and embraced his family as her own. Marian loved reading and instilled that love in her children. She also loved listening to Pavarotti, Josh Groban, and Barbra Streisand. She most loved hearing Marisa sing. She crocheted many beautiful afghans for her family. Her greatest joy was in listening to her family and friends and making them feel understood and important. This is her legacy. Marian is survived by her sister and best friend, Louise McNally; her children and step-children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Jil Morby, Marisa Morby, John, Angie and Charlie Morby, David and Linda Schoss, Jennifer, Bob, Kayla, Dane and Tyler Durrant, Matt, Cheryl, Garrett, Jack, Cooper and Molly Schoss, Heather, Jay, Justin and Jordan Jacobs, Heidi and Tony Gibson, Melany and Wade Hillstead, and Karen Schoss; and her dear friend, Marilyn Ward. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jack, her daughter Patti, her first husband Walt and her second husband Ferrin. Geraldine M. Richards, Mrs. Geraldine Morbv Richards, died Wednesday at her home after a long illness. Mrs. Richards was born Feb. 10 1911 Evanston, Wyo., a daughter of Charles E. and Freda Cook Morby. She resided in Evanston until 1927 when the family came to Ogden. On Oct. 29, 1932, She was married to Thomas 0. (Dee) Ricards in Ogden. She was a member of the Forty-second Ward and had been a Primary teacher. Surviving are her husband , one son, U. Richards Jr., and one daughter. Miss Jeanne Anne - Richards, all of Ogden; two grandchildren, ; her parents of Ogden, two brothers, Al Earl Morby Jr., and Charles Morby Jr., Ogden; one sister, Mrs. Lester (Melba) Guild, Piedmont Wyo. Funeral Services for Melba L. Guild 71 of Piedmont, Wyoming were held at the Crandall Funeral Home Friday, May 23, 1980 at 1:00 p. m. Reverend William Ellington officiated. The poem "When I Must Leave You" was read by her granddaughter Deb Phillips. The family prayer was given by her grandson Kelly Guild. Organ prelude and postlude music was played by grandson Scott Christiansen. The eulogy was given by Mr. Van Moss. A scripture reading was presented by a grandson Leonard Guild. A poem entitled "I Rember" written by her grandson, Russ Anderson, was read by him. A vocal selection was presented by Mr. Hubert Benn, "The Lord's Prayer" accompanied by Mrs. Janice Bodine. "The Twenty-third Psalm" was sung by a quartet composed of Mrs. Donna Dickerson, Mrs. Glenna Jones, Mrs. Connie Lunsford, and Mrs. JoAnn Thornock, accompanied by Mrs. Linda Barker. the pallbearers were grandsons: Curtis Christiansen, Kent Anderson, Rick Guild, Terry Christiansen, Chad Anderson, Kip Christiansen and grandsons-in-law, Mick Romanowsky and Al Chmiel. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons, Leonard Guild, Russ Anderson, Scott Christiansen, Kelly Guild, Adam Guild and Doug Guild. Final resting place was in the Evanston Masonic Cemetery with the grave being dedicated by father Bill Espenshade. Mrs. Guild died Monday, may 19, 1980 at the Summit County Hospital in Coalville, Utah. She was born October 18, 1908 in Evanston, Wyoming to Charles Eli and Freda Frances Cook Morby. She married Lester Thomas Guild on July 22, 1925 in Evanston, Wyoming. He died December 29, 1973. Survivors include: two sons, Lester Lee of Evanston, and Earl of Piedmont, Wyoming; three daughters, Mrs Fred (Lois) Christiansen, Piedmont, Mrs. William (Lucille) Anderson, Evanston; Mrs. Ranold (Joyce) Phillips, Evanston; nineteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren; one brother, Al E. Morby, Ogden Utah. Margaret Moyes Morby Monday, October 3, 2005 OGDEN - Margaret passed away quietly at Emeritus Estates in Ogden on Wednesday, September 28, 2005. She was born in Vallejo, California on July 20, 1918 to David E. and Mildred Burklund Moyes. Margaret married Al Morby in Ogden on November 11, 1939 at the home of Reverend John Carver. Margaret and Al enjoyed many wonderful years together with family and friends and camping in their motor home. Al died December 25, 1982. She attended Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ogden High School. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service after 25 years of service and had also worked for Becker Brewery in Ogden. Margaret traveled all over the world with special friends and her cousin Delores Nordquist. She especially enjoyed spending time with her coffee group at the Newgate Mall in Ogden. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ogden. Margaret is survived by her children, Chris Morby, West Jordan and Tina (Carl) Myers, Ogden; grandchildren Eric and Sean Myers and great-grandchildren Parker, Christian, Hannah and Chloe. She is also survived by her sister Ruth Higginson. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a special companion Iver McPhie. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 4 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., with the Reverend Dr. Rick Minnich officiating. |
